Attending the event were the Canary Island government’s director general of universities, Manuel Ramírez Sánchez; the ULPGC rector, Lluís Serra; the chairman of the ULPGC Social Council, Ángel Tristán Pimienta; and the Alumni Association chairman, Sixto Martín.
The winning team is made up of ULPGC law degree students and will represent the university in a national competition
The qualifying rounds began on Tuesday in the Economics, Business, and Tourism Faculty. The Final Debate will begin at 19:00 with the awards ceremony at 20:30.
Ten teams will take part in the 14th University Debate League, organised by the Social Council, between 5th and 7th April. The judging panel will be made up of ULPGC members, journalists and people with experience in public speaking, and experts on the debate topic.
