The Chairman of the ULPGC Social Council and the Fuerteventura Island Council’s Education and Youth Councillor Address ULPGC Expansion in Fuerteventura

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, May 17 2021

The chairman of the ULPGC Social Council, Jesús León Lima, has met with the education and youth councillor for the Fuerteventura Island Council [cabildo], María Saavedra Hierro. They met to launch an action plan, which includes provision for monitoring these actions and allows the expansion of teaching offered by the ULPGC on Fuerteventura to be addressed over the coming years.

This meeting was organized following the recent visit to the president of the Fuerteventura Island Council by the chairman of the Social Council, along with the new ULPGC rector, Lluís Serra Majem, and the ULPGC director, Roberto Moreno. The aim of this visit was to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions and to continue expanding the education offered by the ULPGC on Fuerteventura. Concerning this, the Island Council made specific mention to the rector of the new dedicated centre to be set-up and launched, allowing for an increase in the current offer of qualifications and university extension courses.

As a result, the chairman of the ULPGC Social Council and the education and youth councillor have agreed to hold regular meetings in which they will address the different actions to be undertaken on the island regarding the expansion of the ULPGC, both in terms of infrastructure and the courses offered.
