The Public Speaking Workshop satisfies the educational responsibility of the Debate Society. It offers a space through which classes and talks are offered on the topic of public speaking and which is leading the way within the Spanish public university sphere. These classes and talks are open to the student and teaching body, as well as to the UPLGC’s administrative and services staff.
Offering this teaching, free of charge, establishes the Workshop as a space providing training in communication and public speaking skills, which are vital tools for employability.
This training is based on two key pillars:
-
- The first pillar concerns the University Debate Leagues. The experience gained through organising and participating in this type of league has led to the offer of specialised training for those participating in said University Debate Leagues as a debater, a team captain, or a judge.
- The second pillar is concerned with public speaking training of a more general nature. It involves offering classes and talks given by experts in communication skills and dealing with verbal and non-verbal communication skills within certain contexts.
