The research projects that have been subsidised are MACARAFOOD, DESAL and MARISCOMAC, which are also supported by ERDF funds.
During an extraordinary plenary session chaired by Ángel Tristán Pimienta, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s Social Council approved this specific amendment to the rules regarding the implementation of the ULPGC 2022 budget. Also approved was the awarding of three extraordinary funds, totalling 30,663.29 euros, earmarked to complete the funding of European research projects within the MAC 2014-2020 Interreg programme.
One of the projects affected by this budget amendment is that entitled “Valorización de productos marinos de la Macaronesia: turismo, gastronomía y capacitación profesional MACAROFOOD”. This project will receive 6,822.59 euros pertaining to the direct costs which the ULPGC is to cover. The total budget for the project is 229,850.85 euros, of which 195,373.22 euros come from ERDF funds and 34,477.63 euros are from the ULPGC.
The second project, “Plataforma macaronésica para el incremento de la excelencia en materia de I+D en desalación de agua y en el conocimiento del nexo agua desalada-energía DESAL+”, will receive 21,586.96 euros in funds pertaining to the direct costs for the hours worked by research staff at this project, which has a total budget of 321,997.53 euros divided into 273,697.90 euros from ERDF funds and 48,299.63 euros contributed by the ULPGC.
The third jointly financed project, “Desenvolvimiento de bases técnico- científicas, formaçao e transferencia de tecnología e conhecimiento para a exploraçao, transformaçao e comercializaçao de mariscos na Macaronésia MARISCOMAC” will receive 2,253.74 euros in funding pertaining to the direct costs which the ULPGC is to cover. This research project has a total budget of 166,031.15 euros divided into 141,0126.48 euros from ERDF funds and 24,904.67 from the ULPGC.
These three projects could not be included in the ULPGC 2022 budget as an extension for their implementation was requested in December.
